Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD):

Genetic screening of embryos for hereditary diseases is conducted after Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and before embryo transfer to the uterus. This process involves sampling each fertilized embryo and testing it to ensure it is free from hereditary diseases previously identified in the parents.

Following the screening, healthy embryos are selected and transferred to the uterus. This procedure assists many families with a history of genetic disorders to avoid these issues and does not necessarily require existing fertility problems.

Additionally, some families opt for this screening as a preventive measure to avoid hereditary diseases that may arise from recessive genes or undiagnosed conditions within the family.
